DAY 1

Arrival

Arrive at Salta airport and transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure to explore this charming city. Salta is a fascinating city to explore on foot and in a short time you can get a feel for it’s wonderful preserved colonial architecture, narrow streets, plazas and museums.

DAY 2

Cafayate and Calchaquies Valley

On this full-day tour you will travel through the cacti-covered Lerma Valley enjoying mountain scenery, rock formations and fantastic colour variations. The colonial town of Cafayate is a UNESCO national monument and sits in a picturesque setting against the backdrop of the Andes. Isolated in the Calchaquies Valley, this area produces delicious well-known wines and you will have an opportunity to visit a local winery before returning to Salta.

DAY 3

Humahuaca Gorge

A full-day excursion to the Humahuaca Gorge, a vast gorge of vividly coloured rock with giant cacti in the higher parts and emerald green oasis villages on the river below. Visit tiny Andean villages enroute and also see the striking Hill of Seven colours. Visit the small town of Tilcara where there is a superb archaeological museum and Pucara which is a restored prehispanic hilltop settlement with panoramic views of the gorge.

Departure

Transfer to the airport for your departing flight from Salta airport.
