Carménère, Malbec and Tannat is a 12-day wine lover's journey through three of South America's finest wine regions. Beginning in Santiago, the tour explores Chile's Casablanca Valley and the coastal heritage of Valparaíso, before heading to Mendoza for winery visits in the heartland of Argentina's celebrated Malbec country. The tour concludes with a ferry crossing to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, where tastings of the local Tannat variety round off this vinous adventure.

Itinerary Details

Day 1

Arrival in Santiago

Upon arrival at Santiago airport, you will be met by our representative and escorted to your hotel.

Day 2

Santiago/Valparaíso/Casablanca Valley

Discover the enological secrets of the Casablanca Valley, the garden city of Viña del Mar, and the heritage of the port of Valparaíso. We begin with the Casablanca Wine Route, the wine tourism destination characterized by the imposing wine cellars and extensive vineyards of Chile’s most prestigious wineries. We will visit Casas del Bosque, which will show us their excellent, cold-climate premium wines, particularly known for their fine Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. We will then cross the Coastal Mountain Range to Viña del Mar, whose name was inspired by the vineyards that existed in the area when the city was founded. We will visit the port of Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will enjoy a gourmet lunch (at guest’s expense) and marvel at its history, its beautiful architecture, and its unique geography dominated by hillsides where unique elevators transport residents to their picturesque houses. Day 4

Flight to Mendoza

At the set time, transfer to the airport of Santiago de Chile to take the short flight to Mendoza. Upon arrival at Mendoza airport, you will be met by our representative and escorted to your hotel. Our representative will assist you with check-in procedures and provide you with a detailed itinerary, covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organisation of your Argentina trip. Day 5

Mendoza

Half-day Wineries and Vineyards excursion. Mendoza is one of the world capitals of the Malbec wine. This tour will go around two collards in the heart of the Central Region of Mendoza that comprises: Maipú and Lujan de Cuyo. In this area, you will find the most traditional cellars in Mendoza and two wine cellars will be visited, one of them is a craft production venture where you will have the chance to observe the traditional work done by local people. The other one is industrialised with its massive infrastructure. You will be able to observe and compare the wine production processes taking place in these commercial undertakings. Day 6

Mendoza

Day 7

Buenos Aires

At the set time, you will be transferred to Mendoza airport. Upon arrival at Buenos Aires airport, you will be met by our representative and escorted to your hotel. Day 8

Buenos Aires

Half-day city Tour. The tour includes attractions such as the 9 de Julio Avenue, the Obelisk and Corrientes Street. The first stop will be in the Plaza de Mayo so as to visit the Cathedral and the Cabildo (Old City Hall). After that, the trip will continue towards the most traditional neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, San Telmo, which is characterized by its old colonial houses and the cobblestoned streets.

Later, the tour will go to La Boca Neighbourhood located in the south of the city. There will be a new scheduled stop so as to look around the colourful zinc houses that make up this area of Buenos Aires and that used to be the refuge and home for the first immigrants and popular artists. Soon after, the vehicle continues to Puerto Madero – the old port of the city that was turned into one of the most exclusive gastronomic and residential areas in Buenos Aires. The tour will go to Palermo: one of the most extended areas in the city and where it is possible to find the popular woods of Palermo with more or less 300 ha (741 acres) of gardens and artificial ponds surrounded by elegant buildings. Finally, the last point in the tour is Recoleta, which is one of the most selected neighbourhoods and where, among other attractions, the Recoleta Cemetery can be found. Also, there are bars, cafés and fancy restaurants that are worth a visit. Overnight in Buenos Aires.

Day 10

Ferry to Colonia del Sacramento

At the set time, you will be transferred to Buenos Aires port to take the ferry to Colonia del Sacramento (Uruguay). Upon arrival at Colonia port, you will be met by our representative and escorted to your hotel in Colonia del Sacramento. Our representative will assist you with check-in procedures and provide you with a detailed itinerary, covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organisation of your trip in Uruguay. Overnight in Colonia.

Day 11

Colonia del Sacramento

Full-day tour to Vineyards of Uruguay. Head to the countryside for a wine tasting tour from Colonia. Visit two separate wineries to learn about the local winemaking process, explore each property and sample different wines including Tannat, the local variety. Learn about the winery’s long history of winemaking as you tour the property with your guide, who is knowledgeable about Uruguay’s wine industry. You’ll then walk through the wine-tasting process before enjoying the tastings of the winery’s varietals. Overnight in Colonia.

Day 12

Departure from Montevideo

At the set time, you will be transferred to the airport of Montevideo.
